Here are a few more good news stories from the outbreak.
1. A restaurant in the Czech Republic had to close its dining room and only do takeout. So the owner let employees set up an electric slot-car track around the bar, just to keep their spirits up.
2. Another new survey found the pandemic has helped us bond with our kids this year. And we’ve spent a lot more time sitting down for dinner together.
3. Doctors are getting better at treating people with COVID-19. A new study looked at a single healthcare system, and found patients who showed up in March only had a 74% survival rate. But by August, it was 92%. And now a new app is helping doctors predict which people are most at risk for severe symptoms.
4. If you haven’t heard about this kid yet, he’s pretty amazing: 11-year-old Romeo Cox recently finished walking 1,700 miles just to visit his grandma. He lives with his parents in Italy, but his grandmother is in England. And he hadn’t seen her in over a year. There weren’t any flights. So he tried to convince his parents to let him walk there by HIMSELF, and wouldn’t shut up about it. So his dad eventually agreed to go with him.
They left in June, spent 93 days hiking through Italy, Switzerland, and France, found a wild donkey along the way to carry their stuff, took a boat across the English Channel, and made it to her house near London late last month.
