Three Trespassers Were Arrested After Locking Themselves in a Former Jail Cell

It isn’t often that people are arrested for breaking INTO jail.  There’s a place in St. Louis called the Medium Security Institution, which used to be a city jail, but it was shut down last year, and it’s sat empty ever since.

And last Thursday, three men broke into the place.  It sounds like they were messing around, until they accidentally locked themselves in a jail cell.  They couldn’t get out, so they called 911.

The police showed up, “rescued” them from the cell, and then promptly arrested them for trespassing.

The cops are still investigating what the men did, and there could be additional charges of property damage, burglary, and stealing.
