There’s a man named Barry Hoffner and he’s visited every country on Earth except for one, and he says traveling light is the secret to surviving life on the road.
In case you were wondering, the only country left for him is North Korea, but he plans on going soon.
According to Barry, here are five things you should never leave home without:
1. A portable power bank. Barry says, “You never know when you’re not going to have electricity.”
2. He also swears by a backpack instead of rolling luggage because some roads and airports just aren’t roller-bag friendly.
3. Merino wool T-shirts. Which seems specific, but he says they can be worn for days without smelling.
4. Earplugs for noisy hotels and city streets.
5. And lastly, and probably most important: Starbucks instant coffee packets, for when there’s an emergency.
