Rod Stewart recently outlined his conditions for a potential Faces reunion. He gave a clear ultimatum to his former bandmate Ronnie Wood in an interview with Mojo.
Stewart disclosed his specific demands for making it happen when asked directly about the possibility of a proper Faces reunion.
“I can’t sing up there anymore so they’d have to drop the keys, and they can,” Stewart said. “They just get lazy. And Ronnie would have to sit there and swear to me the Stones were finished and no longer doing any business, that’s it, all over.”
Stewart shared more details on his proposed timeline and the scheduling conflicts that have prevented the reunion from materializing.
“I would say, ‘Right then, I’ll give it a year,’” he continued. “What happens now is that I wait for him and he says he’s got to do something [with the Stones] and then he waits for me and I say I’ve got to do something. No one’s taking any time out. I’m busy for the rest of this year and into next. I don’t know what the Stones are doing apart from playing Glastonbury.”
The comments stress on the ongoing scheduling challenges between Stewart’s solo career and Wood’s commitments with the Rolling Stones. Stewart’s ultimatum comes at a time when fans may actually witness a partial reunion sooner than expected. This adds new context to his demands for Wood’s full commitment.
