Legendary Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne, has died at the age of 76, his family has announced. Ozzy’s family – wife Sharon, and children Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis, shared the following brief message:

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Black Sabbath’s official Facebook page was updated, simply stating: “Ozzy Forever.”

We at BraveWords are in total shock. For most of us scribes, Black Sabbath was the introduction to a new world of heavy music, what would become heavy metal. Black Sabbath, along with Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Aerosmith ruled the 70s. Ozzy would go onto to an incredibly successful solo career in the ‘80s and his star would keep on building and swing as his iconic status would just grow and grow over time. He’s health had been deteriorating, but he was able to take part in Black Sabbath’s final show (Back To The Beginning) in Birmingham on July 5th.

Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and millions of fans in mourning right now.
