Only 2% of People Say Pro Athletes’ Top Priority Is “Entertaining Fans”

If you’re a sports fan who spends a decent amount of time and money on sports, you may justify it as being the cost of the entertainment.  But do the athletes even care about “entertainment”?

In a new poll, people were asked what they think the TOP PRIORITY is for a professional athlete during their career.

35% of people said it’s “earning as much money as possible.”

30% said it’s “winning as much as possible.”

15% said it’s “maintaining a healthy personal and family life.”

4% said it’s “using their platform for good causes.”

And 2% said it’s “entertaining fans.”

Then, people were asked what the athletes SHOULD have as a top priority, and the good news is:  Fans clearly respect them as fellow HUMANS.

31% said it should be “maintaining a healthy personal and family life.”  (Compared to 15%.)

23% said it should be “winning as much as possible.”  (Versus 30%.)

17% said it should be “using their platform for good causes.”  (Versus 4%.)

12% said it should be “earning as much money as possible.”  (Versus 35%.)

And 5% said it should be “entertaining fans.”  (Versus 2%.)

31% of people said they think MOST pro athletes DO “aim to strike a good work-life balance, even if it might affect their performance.”  30% said they don’t.

And 62% of people said they think most athletes SHOULD find that balance, even if it affects their performance.  Only 11% said they SHOULDN’T.

(I don’t know what inspired these questions, but athletes have been complaining about an increase in social media haters, and even actual, personal THREATS, when they turn in poor performances.)

(The consensus is that this abuse is NOT coming from REAL fans, and instead is a result of the SURGE in sports betting and gambling addicts.)
