Have you ever decided to make a healthy change in your life, but purposely HELD OFF on starting until January 1st, so you could make it a New Year’s Resolution? Which you then bailed on just three weeks later?
Well, now you don’t have to wait until the New Year to experience that failure.
There’s a HUGE trend on social media right now called “The Great Lock-In“, and the idea is similar: You commit to making a change NOW, and carrying it through to the end of the year.
It’s supposed to be a way of “fully hyper-focusing on a task, goal, or activity”, across the final 100-plus days of 2025.
It doesn’t have to be a traditional “resolution.” It’s just meant to be a way to shake off the summer laziness, and “lock in” on success for the next few months.
According to “Know Your Meme,” the original “Great Lock-In” posts started gaining steam a few weeks ago, and now, a ton of people have joined. And “joining” publicly is just a way of holding yourself accountable.
Depending on your reach, it’s also a way to get support from followers.
Of course, the concept isn’t totally new. People are pointing out that it’s essentially a rebrand of last year’s “Winter Arc”, “75 Hard”, and several other self-improvement online “challenges” over the years.
(Here’s one UNCENSORED TikTok explaining the trend, here’s an inspirational early one, this user says this can be life-changing, and there are many, many more under the hashtag, #TheGreatLockIn.)
