Five Random Facts for Monday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  Saguaro cactuses in Arizona can grow to be more than 40 feet tall, but it can take almost a decade for them to reach just 1 inch in height.

2.  Chuck Berry only had one number one hit ever, and sadly, it was “My Ding-a-Ling”.

3.  “The Oregon Trail” (1971) computer game is actually older than “Pong” (1972).  It was originally developed for use by a student-teacher in Minnesota as a history lesson.  (Sadly, the teacher died of dysentery.  Kidding! He’s still alive.)

4.  The same enzyme that makes apples and potatoes turn brown is also responsible for tanning in humans.

5.  Key limes were considered a weed in Florida until the Great Freeze of 1894 destroyed all the lemon groves.  Farmers replanted “Mexican” limes instead, and they became known as Florida Key limes, “a beloved regional crop.”
