Here are some random facts for you.
1. Maya Angelou was the first Black woman in San Francisco to be employed as a streetcar conductor.
2. Alligators go through a pseudo-hibernation in the winter. And they keep their noses above the surface of the water, so if it freezes over, they can still breathe.
3. The hottest place on Earth lost the title it had held for 90 years, when it was found that the man making the original measurements likely misread the thermometer. That was in the Mediterranean city of El Azizia in northern Libya. Now, the title belongs to Death Valley, California.
4. 25% of U.S. parents are unmarried. That’s not a huge change from 30 years ago, when 21% were unmarried, but it’s a massive increase from 60 years ago, when just 7% were unmarried.
5. Frank Sinatra supposedly hired thugs to beat up comedian Jackie Mason for making fun of him for marrying Mia Farrow, who was 30 years younger. After Mason had his face wired back together, he kept making jokes. He’d say, “Frank Sinatra saved my life one night. He said: ‘Boys, that’s enough.'”
