Let’s be honest, unless you’re a billionaire, you’ve gone through periods where you’ve needed to cut back, and do without unnecessary stuff. But some things never make it to the chopping block.
People on social media are talking about the “luxuries” that you can “never go back from, once you’ve experienced them”, and there are some good ones:
1. Having your own place. Having roommates can be a nice way to save money, especially in an urban (or fancy) area, but it’s REALLY hard to go back once you’ve had a space all to yourself.
2. Keeping your house at a temperature that’s comfortable. So, cozy and warm in the winter, and cool in the summer months.
3. Decent noise canceling headphones for air travel.
4. Business class on flights over 8 hours.
5. Hiring movers.
6. Very little commute. Being able to walk to work, or working remotely.
7. A good bed, and a good pillow.
8. Turning unnecessary phone notifications off.
9. Not having to look at prices while buying groceries. Someone said, “I’m not swimming in money, but I don’t have to think about every price tag.”
10. An electric toothbrush.
11. Living in a high trust society. Like Japan, or some parts of Europe. “If I leave something important somewhere, it’ll still be there, or it’ll be turned in.”
12. A housekeeper, once or twice a month. “Remember, money is a tool that can buy back time.”
13. A garage. Or a dishwasher.
14. A bidet toilet. Someone said, “There’s nothing else like it.”
15. One person said, “Ceiling fan for the bedroom, swimming naked, automatic transmission, and cheese.” (???)
