Five Random Facts for Wednesday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  The original color of Le Creuset enameled cast iron cookware was “Volcanique”, an orange-red look that’s sold in the U.S. as “Flame.”

2.  About 700 grapes go into one bottle of wine.  That’s around three pounds, if you’re wondering how much “fruit” you get when you uncork your favorite red.

3.  An estimated 80% of American men are circumcised, but rates vary widely from country to country.  It’s 99.9% in Morocco, and similarly high rates in many Muslim-majority countries, and it’s 92% in Israel.

On the flipside, in Europe, most men are not circumcised.  It’s also less than 20% in: Brazil, China, Japan, and India, and the global prevalence of circumcision is currently around 38%.

4.  The best-selling car in America is the red-and-yellow plastic Little Tikes toy called the Cozy Coupe.  About half a million are sold every year, that’s more than the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord, or the Tesla Model Y.

5.  PETA once asked the Pet Shop Boys to change their name to the Rescue Shelter Boys.  The Pet Shop Boys turned them down.
