If you think about the STICKIEST places, you might think of Mississippi, for the hot, muggy summers. Or New York City, for all the chewed gum and other gunk on the sidewalks. But this is different.
A moving website called MoveBuddha put out a list of the “stickiest cities in America,” which are the ones that are the “hardest for locals to quit.” So where people want to “stick” around, and don’t move out to other metro areas.
To compare the cities, they looked at data on how often people move, and how far. Are they packing up and moving to a whole new area? Or staying local, and just hopping over to a new neighborhood?
The 10 stickiest metro areas are:
1. Charlotte, North Carolina. Nearly 1 in 4 “move searches” from Charlotte stayed close to home.
2. Greenville, South Carolina
3. Daytona Beach, Florida
4. Louisville, Kentucky
5. Tulsa, Oklahoma
6. Kansas City, Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas
7. Dallas, Texas
8. Indianapolis, Indiana
9. Providence, Rhode Island
10. Atlanta, Georgia.
So what are the LEAST sticky cities?
San Diego has a high churn rate, as does Las Vegas, San Jose, California, Denver, Austin, Texas, Seattle, Miami, and San Francisco.
(MoveBuddha.com has the full ranking of 49 cities.)
