If you’ve ever had to make an emergency grocery run for BAKED BEANS, it may have been during a summer cookout. (There’s ONE bean fan who’s like, “Did we forget the baked beans?”)
Instacart just released data on Independence Day grocery orders, based on 2024, at least. Here are the 10 items that PEAKED in popularity during the week of Fourth of July last year:
1. Canned baked beans . . . 4.2-times the yearly average order.
2. Hot dog buns.
3. Watermelons . . . Are they as popular as the rest of the items on the list . . . or is it just easier to have SOMEONE ELSE carry them to your door?
4. Hot dogs.
5. Hamburger buns.
6. Popsicles.
7. Pickles.
8. Mayonnaise.
9. Potato chips.
10. Lemonade and limeade.
Other grocery items that surge during the Fourth include: Athena melons, Rainier Mcherries, angel food cake, Daiquiri, Piña Colada,. frozen non-alcoholic cocktail mixers , and ice.
Instacart also sees spikes in non-food items, especially GRILLS, which are 21-times more popular than average around the Fourth. (That’s grills you COOK on, of course. Not the ORAL BLING.)
People also order a lot of kiddie pools this time of year, along with cornhole, and barbecue charcoal. (That’s cornhole the backyard lawn game, of course.)
