Happy World Egg Day, celebrating the most scrambly of all foods. The International Egg Commission started it in 1996, so it’s the 30th year it’s been celebrated.
84% of Americans like or love eggs, according to a recent poll, and just 3% of us fully hate them. But even a lot of egg-lovers are split on this next question: Are you a KETCHUP on eggs person?
A new poll out this week asked about different “food debates,” and that one made the list. Here are a few food topics people are oddly passionate about.
1. Ketchup on eggs? A full THIRD of us are now on board with it. 32% of Americans say they “like” or “love” ketchup on eggs.
2. Is chili a soup, a stew, or neither? Stew wins with 60% of the vote. 23% said neither, and 18% think chili is soup. (Wrong.)
3. Is a hot dog a sandwich? 40% say yes, 53% say no. The other 7% still haven’t made up their mind.
4. Is a hamburger a sandwich? 73% think it is.
5. How should a sandwich be cut in half? 29% said vertically, 49% said diagonally, and 22% said neither.
6. Is coleslaw a salad? 67% think it counts, yes.
7. Pineapple on pizza? 48% of us like or love it now. So it’s gone mainstream.
8. Is leftover pizza better warm or cold? 28% prefer it cold.
9. When pouring a bowl of cereal, do you pour the milk or cereal first? Only 4% of us go milk first.
10. Best brownie, edge piece or middle piece? 45% said edge of the pan, and 39% said middle. The other 16% are happy with any brownie.
