Neil Diamond has announced the release of Wild at Heart, his 2007 album crafted with Rick Rubin.
Arriving on May 8th via Capitol/UME, Wild at Heart features 10 previously unreleased tracks from Diamond’s sessions with Rubin for the 2008 project Home Before Dark. That record was Diamond’s second with the lauded producer, following 2005’s 12 Songs. Now, the final collection of songs from their collaborative streak will be unearthed. “My work with Rick was a labor of love,” Diamond said in a statement, “and I’m so gratified that these songs will finally be set free into the world to complete our trilogy of work.”
Diamond has also shared a trailer for the upcoming release; it depicts him sitting with Rubin in the same studio where they recorded Wild at Heart in and reflecting on the album’s creation all those years ago. “You wrote a lot of songs in a brief window, there,” Rubin said. “You were on fire.” “I couldn’t stop myself, it was a good feeling,” Diamond replied. “I was living with these songs for about a year. They were part of my everyday life.” Watch the trailer for Wild at Heart below.
