Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell has confirmed that he is finished working on his third solo album, his first ful l-length solo effort since 2002.Cantrell’s debut album Boggy Depot was released in 1998; In 2002, his second album Degradation Trip came out. He dedicated the record to Layne Staley, who had just died a few months prior to its release.
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor revealed that he’s planning some solo tour dates for April and May, making it clear that social-distancing and safety will be top priority. Taylor released his solo album CMFT late last year.
Wolfgang Van Halen’s debut single “Distance” has reached No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Released under Wolfgang’s Mammoth WVH, the single is a tribute to his late father Eddie Van Halen. The video for the song featured home movies of Eddie and Wolfgang, and since its release it has earned over 4 million views on YouTube. In addition to topping the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, “Distance” also hit No. 1 on the MediaBase and BDS Active Rock Radio charts.
Metallica celebrated the 35th anniversary of their groundbreaking LP Master Of Puppets by performing its opening track, “Battery,” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Colbert introduced the song noting that Master of Puppets had “such an impact that it was added to National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress.”
Members of Sum 41, CKY and Beasto Blanco amongst others have come joined together for their cover of Alice in Chains’ “Would?” Sum 41’s Dave Brownsound, CKY’s Jess Margera, Beasto Blanco’s Chuck Garric and Jean Genus, bassist for Hank Von Hell, joined forces to pay tribute to the band.
