Paul McCartney Earns First No. 1 Album In Over 36 Years On Billboard 200 Chart With ‘Egypt Station’

Paul McCartney new studio effort, Egypt Station, has given him his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart in over 36 years. Released on Sept. 7, Egypt Station will debut at No. 1 on the Sept. 22-dated chart. Of Egypt Station’s 153,000 units, the majority were powered by traditional album sales: 147,000 copies sold. The remainder was comprised of SEA units (5,000) and TEA units (1,000). Egypt Station gives McCartney his eight No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and his first solo album to debut at No. 1. Egypt Station was led by its first single, “Come On to Me,” which became McCartney’s first top 10 on the Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart in over 20 years. The track has so far peaked at No. 6.

Smashing Pumpkins Announce New Album ‘Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1’

The Smashing Pumpkins announced their new album, called Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun., will be available on Nov. 16. The band also released a new song, “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts).” Eight previously announced tracks recorded by the band will be released on this album, as well. Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin will be joined by Jeff Schroeder in the current lineup, which does not feature original bassist D’Arcy Wretsky. The Smashing Pumpkins recently completed their 30th anniversary tour, and will be making appearances in the U.K. and Italy, with another anniversary celebration at the Aragon Ballroom in their hometown of Chicago on Nov. 30.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience Announces ‘Electric Ladyland’ 50th Anniversary Box Set

The Jimi Hendrix Experience is commemorating the 50th anniversary of its album Electric Ladyland by reissuing the project as part of a Deluxe Edition box set, to be released on November 9th. In addition to the original double album, the box set includes Electric Ladyland: The Early Takes, which contains demos and studio outtakes from the recording period. The Deluxe Edition will also contain the unreleased live album, Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live At the Hollywood Bowl 9/14/68, which is part of Experience Hendrix’s Dagger Records official bootleg series, as well as the feature-length documentary, At Last… The Beginning: The Making of Electric Ladyland. Finally, it will include a full color, 48-page book that contains Hendrix’s handwritten lyrics, poem and instructions to his record label, and never before published photos.

John Mellencamp Announces 2019 Tour And New Album

John Mellencamp will embark on a 2019 North American tour of ‘The John Mellencamp Show’ which will feature some of his classics plus some new material, set to coincide with Mellencamp’s new album release. Mellencamp will begin the tour on February 7 in his home state of Indiana at South Bend’s Morris Performing Arts Center and will span two months ending in Clearwater, Florida. ‘The John Mellencamp Show’ will start promptly at 8pm and will not have an opening act. Every ticket purchased online will receive a copy of Mellencamp’s forthcoming album Other People’s Stuff set for release on November 16th. Tickets for the tour will be available to the general public beginning Friday, September 21st at 10:00am. Pre-sale and VIP tickets will be available beginning on Wednesday, September 19 at 10:00am. MÖTLEY CRÜE Lead Singer Vince Neil Says Band Is Returning To Studio To Record New Music

Motley Crue may no longer be touring, but the band is still planning to make new with music. Vince Neil just revealed in a new tweet that he’s planning to return to the recording studio in a few weeks to record four brand new Motley Crue songs. Just weeks ago, Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx were spotted together in a studio with producer Bob Rock, with photos and videos showing Lee playing. The band has been working toward the release of film adaptation of their popular group biography The Dirt, so it’s possible that the music will tie into the project.
