An Air Force Base in Georgia is Having a “Martin Luther King Jr. Fun Shoot”

We never make it through MLK Day without SOMEONE doing something offensive.  Usually it’s a company serving stereotypically black foods.  This is WAY worse.

The Robins Air Force Base in Georgia is holding a skeet shooting event today.  And to advertise it, they put up a bunch of posters with Martin Luther King Jr. on them, and the headline “Martin Luther King Jr. Fun Shoot.”  Apparently no one thought that wording was a bad idea, until people pointed out how TERRIBLE it was.

The officials from the base say a marketing team made the flyer, and it’s an honest mistake.

They also issued an apology.   “We realized the inappropriateness of the advertisement several days ago and immediately began removing the flyer, we offer our heartfelt apology to those affected by our thoughtlessness.”

That being said, as far as we know, the shooting event is still happening.
