A guy in France is in the news after he went on a road trip with his wife, forgot her at a gas station along the way, and didn’t realize for nearly 200 MILES.
They haven’t released his name, but he’s 62 years old and his wife is 60. Their 22-year-old daughter was also with them, but asleep in the back seat.
They left Paris for Morocco last Friday night to beat traffic. It’s a long drive, about 27 hours, and they made several stops during the first leg. He pulled into a gas station around 4:30 in the morning, apparently to fuel up. Then he left without her and didn’t realize for 186 miles.
It’s not clear if she’d been sleeping in the back or what. Maybe she got out and he didn’t realize. But he called the cops at 8:30 A.M. to report it.
He couldn’t remember which gas station he stopped at, or even the city it was in. And his daughter was sleeping during the stop, so she wasn’t any help. But cops eventually found the wife by tracking her cell phone.
No word on why she couldn’t just use her phone to call him. (???) But it turned out she’d been sitting there for FOUR HOURS waiting for him to come back.
Cops thought there was a chance he left her there on purpose, but decided it was an honest mistake. So he’s not in any legal trouble, just trouble with the wife.
He swung back, picked her up, and they continued on with their vacation.
